About APMBuild
APMBuild is a Hereford-based building contractor delivering new builds, extensions and deep retrofit across Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and the Welsh borders. Our director, Paweł Okurowski, has over twenty years' construction experience in Poland, Germany, Spain (Mallorca) and the UK and completed Passive House training with a PHI-accredited training body in 2023.
We use PHPP from the earliest stage and offer a complete turnkey service, from fabric and airtightness through to interior design, kitchens and fitted furniture. We source windows, doors, insulation, kitchens and furniture directly from European manufacturers, both for our own projects and as a supply-only service to other contractors. We are building our Passivhaus and EnerPHit portfolio and working towards our first PHI-certified project.

From Poland to the UK, building the right way.
I started in construction in Poland, where the craft was taken seriously and attention to detail was expected — not optional. I learned from experienced tradespeople who understood that a building's long-term performance depends entirely on the quality of decisions made during construction.
I worked in Germany, where precision engineering meets construction — an environment that shaped my approach to airtightness, thermal bridge elimination and the kind of detailing that actually makes the difference between a good passive house and a great one.
Mallorca taught me a different kind of rigour: luxury residential work in a climate where thermal comfort, material quality and client expectations left no room for compromise.
From 2013 I worked as an independent contractor across the UK — taking on increasingly complex residential refurbishment and construction projects, building deep expertise in building physics, fabric performance and energy-efficient detailing along the way. Over those years a pattern became clear: clients were being let down not by lack of ambition, but by builders who didn't understand the standard, consultants who didn't build, and supply chains that didn't deliver performance. The gap between what low-energy construction could achieve and what was actually being delivered was significant — and avoidable.
I established APMBuild Ltd in 2024 to close that gap properly. Not as a volume contractor, but as a quality-first specialist — combining Passive House training, a direct European materials supply chain, and personal site oversight under one roof.

Completed the Level 2 Master Passive House construction course at Akademia Zdrowego Budownictwa (AZB), a Passive House Institute-accredited training body, Wrocław, Poland (2023). Working knowledge of PHPP methodology, airtightness detailing, thermal bridge principles, and EnerPHit retrofit strategy.

The PHPP Assessment Process
Every APMBuild project starts with a PHPP pre-assessment — the energy modelling tool developed by the Passive House Institute. Here is how it works, from first data to certified result.

Four things that don't change.
Low-energy building performance depends on doing every detail correctly. We don't cut corners on airtightness, thermal bridges or specification.
You get a clear cost breakdown before any work starts. European materials pricing is passed on honestly — we don't inflate margins on supply.
We give realistic programmes, not optimistic ones. If something changes, you hear it from Paweł directly, not from a project manager who wasn't there.
We work on a small number of projects at a time. Quality requires attention, and attention requires limits. We'd rather do fewer projects properly.
