PHPP-informed pre-assessment by Paweł, using PHI methodology. Full certified PHPP models available through our PHI-accredited partner. One of the few contractors in West Midlands and Wales combining PHI-accredited Passive House training with direct European materials supply.
Book AssessmentAPMBuild PHPP pre-assessments are carried out by Paweł Okurowski using PHPP methodology (PHI-accredited Level 2 training, AZB 2023). They are not produced by a PHI Certified PHPP Expert or Certified Passive House Designer. Where full certified PHPP modelling is required for building certification, APMBuild works with an accredited PHI partner. Pre-assessments are indicative and intended to guide specification decisions.
PHPP stands for Passive House Planning Package. It is the energy modelling software developed by the Passive House Institute to calculate how a building will actually perform before it is built — or before it is retrofitted.
Think of it as a detailed energy model of your home. It calculates heat loss through every element of your building: walls, roof, floor, windows, doors, thermal bridges and ventilation. The output tells you how much energy your home will need for heating, what U-values you need to achieve, and whether your project can reach EnerPHit or Passive House standard.
Without PHPP, a deep retrofit is essentially a guess. With it, the performance is designed in from the start — and the result is a home that behaves exactly as predicted.

PHPP calculates what your building will actually use before a single brick is laid. You know the outcome before you commit.
Retrofitting in the wrong sequence — or specifying materials that can't meet the target — costs far more to correct. PHPP identifies issues on paper, not on site.
EnerPHit and Passive House certification require a certified PHPP model. APMBuild delivers full certified PHPP models through our PHI-accredited partner — pre-assessment work and project coordination handled in-house by Paweł.
Carried out by Paweł Okurowski directly. A practical first step before committing to any project.
Heat loss overview — indicative U-value targets for your walls, roof, floor and windows.
EnerPHit feasibility — whether your property can achieve EnerPHit standard and at what cost.
EPC improvement pathway — the most cost-effective route to your target EPC band.
Indicative cost range — a realistic sense of project budget before detailed design.
UK-wide remote service. Requires property details, existing drawings if available, and current EPC certificate.
A complete PHPP model suitable for EnerPHit or Passive House certification submission. Delivered through our PHI-accredited partner, with Paweł coordinating between client, partner and site.
Full energy model — detailed calculation of heating demand, primary energy and peak load.
U-value schedules — specification of every building element to achieve target performance.
Thermal bridge analysis — identification and mitigation of linear thermal bridges.
Certification-ready output — suitable for submission to PHI for EnerPHit or Passive House certification.
Delivered UK-wide through our PHI-accredited partner. Suitable for architects, developers, housing associations and private clients requiring certification. APMBuild handles coordination, pre-assessment input, and the build itself.
We're one of the few contractors in West Midlands and Wales combining PHI-accredited Passive House training, a direct European supply chain, and PHPP-informed pre-assessment under one roof — with full certified PHPP modelling delivered via our PHI-accredited partner. The model informs the build. The build delivers the model's predictions.
Book Your AssessmentWhat PHPP is, when you need it, and how APMBuild delivers it.
PHPP (Passive House Planning Package) is the industry-standard energy modelling tool developed by the Passive House Institute. It calculates heating and cooling demand, primary energy use, overheating risk and U-values at a level of detail far beyond SAP, telling you exactly how a building will perform before construction starts.
PHPP is essential for any project targeting Passive House or EnerPHit certification, and strongly recommended for any deep retrofit or low-energy new build where heating demand reduction is a goal. APMBuild offers PHPP pre-assessments to confirm whether your project can hit specific targets before you commit to a full design.
Director Paweł Okurowski is PHPP-trained, and APMBuild operates as a Passive House-trained contractor with hands-on PHPP modelling experience. For projects requiring formal PHI certification, we collaborate with certified Passive House consultants and certifiers as part of the delivery team.
An APMBuild PHPP pre-assessment includes building geometry input, U-value calculations for the proposed fabric, glazing specification, MVHR sizing, airtightness target, heating demand and overheating risk output, plus a written summary of what's needed to reach EnerPHit or Passive House targets.
A PHPP pre-assessment with APMBuild typically takes 1–2 weeks from receipt of drawings and site data. Full PHPP modelling supporting certification can run 3–6 weeks depending on complexity and design iterations.
