On-Site Mentoring · UK-wide

Your team, your site —
our experience alongside.

Builder-to-builder site coaching for construction teams taking on high-performance details for the first time. Airtightness, EWI, MVHR, window installation — demonstrated on your building, UK-wide.

The Service

The fastest way to learn a detail is to build it once with someone who has.

High-performance construction fails at the junctions. A team that has never taped an airtightness membrane around a joist penetration, never returned EWI into a window reveal, never set a triple-glazed window in the insulation layer — that team will get it wrong the first time, and the first time is on your project.

APMBuild's on-site mentoring puts Paweł on your site, working directly with your team at the critical phase. Not a classroom, not a slide deck: the actual membrane, the actual reveal, the actual junction on your building. He demonstrates the sequence, watches your team repeat it, and leaves them able to carry on without him.

To be clear about what this is not: APMBuild does not run courses and does not issue certificates or accredited qualifications. This is experience transfer — builder to builder, on a day rate, anywhere in the UK.

Airtightness sequencing

Membrane layout, taping order, penetration details and the discipline that gets a build under its target on the first blower door test.

EWI & window installation

External wall insulation fixing patterns, reveal returns, and setting high-performance windows in the insulation zone.

Thermal bridges & MVHR

Junction detailing where heat escapes, and the MVHR ducting principles that decide whether the system whispers or whistles.

Why it pays

One day of coaching is cheaper than one failed airtightness test.

A failed blower door test means hunting leaks behind finished work, opening up, re-taping and re-testing — days of programme and real money. A badly-returned EWI reveal means a cold bridge and condensation risk for the life of the building. These are not exotic failures; they are the standard first-project mistakes.

Contractors use mentoring to bid for low-energy work with confidence: pricing their first EnerPHit-route or Passive House-standard job knowing the details won't sink them. Self-builders use it to give their sub-trades one clear, demonstrated standard to work to.

Where the project needs more than phase-based coaching, the same experience is available as ongoing project management and site coordination. And teams sourcing high-performance components can pair mentoring with our European materials supply — the person demonstrating the window install is the same one who supplied the window.

Typical engagement

  • · 1–3 days on site per build phase
  • · Day-rate basis, agreed up front
  • · UK-wide, travel costs quoted first
  • · Demonstration, then supervised repetition
  • · Written phase notes left with the team

FAQ

On-site mentoring questions

How builder-to-builder knowledge transfer works on your site.

What is APMBuild's on-site mentoring service?

Practical, builder-to-builder knowledge transfer delivered on your site, anywhere in the UK. Paweł works alongside your team to demonstrate airtightness sequencing, EWI installation, thermal bridge mitigation at critical junctions, MVHR principles and high-performance window fitting — on your building, with your materials, at the moment the detail is actually being built.

Is this a training course or certification?

No. APMBuild does not run courses and does not issue certificates or accredited qualifications. This is site coaching — 20+ years of European construction experience shared directly on your project. Teams that want formal Passive House qualifications should look at PHI-accredited course providers.

Who books on-site mentoring?

Most commonly main contractors taking on their first low-energy, EnerPHit-route or Passive House-standard project, and self-builders coordinating their own sub-trades. Architects also book it for their contractors when a project's details are beyond the team's previous experience.

How long does an engagement last?

Typically 1–3 days on site per critical build phase, on a day-rate basis. Many teams book one visit at the airtightness stage and another at window installation — the two stages where inexperience costs the most.

Does mentoring work anywhere in the UK?

Yes. On-site mentoring is a UK-wide service. Travel and, where needed, overnight costs are agreed up front as part of the day-rate quotation.
